Social Work is a regulated health profession that is not covered by OHIP. However, most group insurance plans cover psychotherapy with a Registered Social Worker. Check with your plan to determine how much coverage you are eligible for per year.

Direct Billing is available. Please reach out and we can discuss this.

Psychotherapy services provided by Registered Social Workers are now recognized as a tax deductible medical expense by Revenue Canada.

Policies

  • As a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, I have a responsibility to uphold the highest standards of practice and ethics. Thus, information that you share with me is highly confidential and cannot be shared directly or indirectly to anyone without your informed and written consent. There are exceptions to this rule, that we will go through verbally during intake

    Parents of Adolescents: Confidentiality is extremely important for everyone, but especially teens. I will not share with you information regarding your child’s sessions, but will encourage them to share what is pertinent to your relationship. Their safety is of utmost importance, and we will discuss limits of confidentiality during intake.

  • Your therapy hour is reserved for you. If you arrive late, we will still need to end on time in to allow me to stay punctual for my next appointment.

    I require 48 hours notice for the cancellation of an appointment. Cancellations less than 48 hours will be charged half rate of the session, regardless of the reason. No Shows result in being charged full rate of the session.

  • Therapy is beneficial, but as with any treatment, there are inherent risks. During therapy, you will have discussions about personal issues which may bring to the surface uncomfortable emotions such as anger, guilt, sadness. The benefits of therapy can far outweigh any discomfort encountered during the process. Some of the possible benefits are improved personal relationships, reduced feelings of emotional distress, and specific problem-solving. I cannot guarantee these benefits, of course. It is my desire, however, to work with you to attain your personal goals for therapy.
